In 1989, I graduated from Buffalo State College with a Bachelor Degree of Science in Education and began my 30-year teaching career with the Niagara Wheatfield Central School District. In 1996, I earned my Master’s Degree in Education from Niagara University. Over the course of my career, I taught Kindergarten (4 years), Second grade (17 years) and Sixth grade (9 years). Each grade level provided new experiences, adventures and insights. The students, parents and colleagues I was blessed to work with were all gifts and teachers to me in their own unique ways.
As a teacher, especially during my twelve years as Head Teacher, I developed an invaluable skill set. The skill set I acquired includes problem solving, effective communication, goal setting/planning and using the “growth mindset”.
Doing a job I loved for thirty years flew by in the blink of an eye! It was a bittersweet experience closing the book (pardon the pun) on a career I loved so much. Now I am engaged in a new journey and one which allows me to utilize all I have learned and internalized. It is my strong belief in the Growth Mindset philosophy that brought me the opportunity to become a Certified Life Coach with a specialization in Happiness Coaching. I am grateful to my husband Michael for his invitation to join his practice and allowing me the opportunity to guide people towards their personal goals.
Life coaching to me is assisting those on their journey to self-discovery. Have you ever felt “stuck” in your life, trying to figure out what makes you happy or how to accomplish what you want to accomplish? If so, you are not alone. In some ways, this is a universal experience as we all must find our way. This is where Life Coaching can help. Having a life coach is like having a mentor, strategist and cheerleader all rolled up into one.
As a professional life coach, I help guide clients to identify the barriers that may be in their way, replacing them with more empowering strategies and ideas. Together we work to pinpoint obstacles which are interfering with achieving your life’s hopes. Together we develop the tools and strategies needed to overcome those obstacles. We do this through focused sessions. Outcomes of life coaching include improved communication skills, increased self-esteem and self-confidence, goal setting and developing an essential growth mindset.
